Parents Section Introduction

Parents Section

Are you a Parent or Guardian?
Protecting children is your responsibility too...
The safety and welfare of children - or child protection - is everyone's business. You could be a neighbour, friend, parent, relative, child minder, teacher or doctor - or working for any organisation which has contact with children and young people.
Child protection means protecting children from physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect. It also means helping children to grow up into confident, healthy and happy adults.
Most children enjoy generally happy childhood experiences within their own family. Unfortunately for some, this is not the case. During difficult family times, everyone who knows the child must do the best they can to protect them from future harm.
This section is about assisting parents or guardians in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
We hope you will find the information useful.

Would you like to be a lay member of the LSCB Board

The Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) is recruiting two Lambeth residents to become lay members of the board. This is a great opportunity to help the Board make sure that Lambeth agencies are safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people across the borough effectively.
The board is looking for someone who has some knowledge of local child safety issues; can help it make better links with local community groups and can challenge it to make its policies and procedures more accessible to the public.
Lay members will operate as full members of the board attending six half day meetings per year and a small number of working groups. Appointments are for two years, subject to yearly review. Induction training and travel expenses will be provided if needed.More information is available by contacting Vivienne White on 0207 926 7068.
