Changing Text Size
Changing the font size that your browser deisplays, depends on which browser you are using. The most common browsers are as follows
Internet Explorer
If you have the use of a scroll-wheel mouse, you can hold the ctrl key on your keyboard and use the scroll wheel to control the font size.
Alternativly:
- Select
View from the main menu.
- Select
Text Size from the drop down menu.
- Select from the 5 options ("Largest", "Larger", "Medium", "Smaller" and "Smallest".
"Medium") the most usable option for you.
Mozilla/Netscape 6+
If you have the use of a scroll-wheel mouse, you can hold the ctrl key on your keyboard and use the scroll wheel to control the font size.
Alternativly:
- Select
View from the main menu.
- Select
Text Zoom from the drop down menu.
- There will be 3 groups of options in the sub menu, allowing you to do the following:
- Change the text size by small amounts. Select
Larger or Smaller and continue until the text is an appropriate size. This option can be accessed with the keyboard by holding the ctrl key and + or - to increase or decrease the text size.
- Change the text size to a preset percentage of the default. Select one of the 7 percentages (50, 75, 90, 100, 120, 150 and 200).
- Change the text size to a user defined percentage. Select
Other Options from the menu. Type your desired percentage (e.g. 225%) in the Text Zoom input box that appeaers and hit enter or click OK.
Firefox 1.5
If you have the use of a scroll-wheel mouse, you can hold the ctrl key on your keyboard and use the scroll wheel to control the font size.
Alternativly:
- Select
View from the main menu.
- Select
Text Size from the drop down menu.
- Select
Increase or Decrease from the drop down menu.
- This will only temporarily change the text size. This option can be accessed with the keyboard by holding the ctrl key and + or - to increase or decrease the text size.
To make a permanent font size change:
- Select
Tools from the main menu.
- Select
Options (or Preferences if you are using a Macintosh) from the drop down menu.
- Select
Content from the options box.
- Select a suitable font size from the 'Fonts & Colors' section.
- There are futher options in the advanced section should you need to make any different alterations.
Opera
- Select
View from the main menu.
- Select
Zoom from the drop down menu.
- Select a suitable percentage (50, 80, 90, 100 (the default), 120, 150, 200 percent) increase from the sub menu.
Alternately, use the + (plus) and - (minus) keys on your keyboards number pad, or the Zoom selector in the toolbar.
Safari
- Select
View from the main menu
- Select
Make Text Bigger or Make Text Smaller from the drop down menu to increase or decrease the text size.
Internet Explorer Mac
- Select
View from the main menu
- Select a suitable percentage (50, 80, 90, 100 (the default), 120, 150, 200 percent) increase from the sub menu.
- This feature can also be alered with the smaller, and larger options that skip through the percentage options
Netscape 4
- Select
View from the main menu.
- Select
Increase Font or Decrease Font from the drop down menu to increase or decrease the text size.
- This option can be accessed with the keyboard by holding the ctrl key and + or - to increase or decrease the text size.
AOL
- Select
Preferences from 'My AOL' in the toolbar.
- Click the WWW icon on the list at the left.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Select
Browser Display option on the left.
- Select
Large or Largest to increase text to a more comfortable size and click OK or hit enter.
