Updated Training Brochure

The LSCB Training Brochure for 2010/2011, giving details of free safeguarding children training, has been updated. The brochure gives details of courses available between 1st September 2010 and 31st March 2011.

The training is very popular and some courses are already fully booked or have limited places available. Overall, however,  there are still over 600 places available across the advertised courses. Early booking is advised.

Although all training is free, a charge of £50 is made whenever someone fails to attend a course without giving prior notice.

The Training Brochure is regularly updated throughout the year so remember to keep an eye on it for new courses.

Basic/Foundation Level E-learning Package

Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board has purchased a basic/foundation level e-learning package in respect of safeguarding children.

The package is aimed at:
Those who are in contact/work with children and young people and with
adults who are parents/carers (agencies from the independent and voluntary
  sector)
AND
who are required to consult with a child protection designated/lead person
regarding concerns about a child’s welfare
AND
are unable to access basic safeguarding children training within their own
agency or via the multi-agency courses provided by LSCB.

The following groups should ensure that they attend the other relevant courses featured in the LSCB training brochure.
Those who work regularly with children and young people and with adults who
  are parents/carers.
Those with a particular responsibility for safeguarding children. This includes
designated/named persons, managers and those involved in the supervision or
recruitment and selection of staff, trainers etc.

Before you use the package check with your agency’s Training Officer/Department as some agencies require their staff to follow different instructions to those listed below. This is because these agencies have an arrangement that will allow them to track staff use of the package.

London Safeguarding Children Board - Induction Training Pack

The London Board Training Subgroup has produced a training pack to be used by experienced trainers for those workers/volunteers within any organisation who are in contact/work with children and young people and adults who are parents/carers. These will be people who are in a position to identify concerns about maltreatment, including those which may arise from the use of the Common Assessment Framework.

The pack is designed to be delivered flexibly as a two or three hour event to large or small groups. The nature and level of participant involvement, together with the way in which the exercises within the pack are executed will depend on group size and the time available to deliver the training.

The training pack and associated resources can be found at www.londonscb.gov.uk/training_subgroup/

The Lambeth Training Brochure includes a 'Training for Trainers' course for those wishing to use the London Safeguarding Children Board material.
